Mirissa in Words

You know that feeling you get after an amazing little holiday? That feeling that makes you look at everyone who didn’t come along condescendingly and go “Oh you haven’t been to [x] have you?” and shake your head? Yeah, was feeling that while walking out of the beach yesterday from Buba.

Played tap for about five minutes before Unsilent and Fallen began to show signs of cardiac arrest. Giblet the ball was not pleased. But that might have been because we called him Giblet. But mount beach was disappointing after our earlier trip.

Got to the beach from fallen’s place, where me and HisP were staying after we got back from Mirissa. We got to fallen’s place at around midnight.

The Trip-

Don’t ever eat from Vinns Restaurant in Galle near the bus stand unless you like cold food. Also police walking in on underage smokers. *cough*falle-*cough*.

We got there from Mirissa. In Mirissa, even the sky looks better. The sun smiles benevolently and the weather changes almost at will. The waves lap at you playfully and the mermaids don’t try to lure you underwater and drown you. They’re not half fish either. But then again they’re not topless either.

Mirissa was the best beach I have been to. Apparently Trinco’s even better, so we’re off there later. All are welcome.

At the beach, we played some tap rugby and even met a french guy with a ruggerite son. We managed to best him, but I have a sneaky suspicion he was going easy on us. He was 10. Later we went again chilled and snorkeled over at the rock pool, which was a shallow bit of sea protected from the waves by a tiny island like thing. This was where fallen first started to turn into a kind of David Hasselhoff in Baywatch. He grabbed the ball and went over to the two girls who had just stepped in next to us. Points to him for taking the initiative! But points taken away for ditching us. Eventually we went over too and found out they were peruvians from california. Oh, we also found out they were fifteen.

There was  a fantastic looking island near the beach, which you could get to by wading out a short distance. We jogged(mostly) up to it, leaped the short distance(about 10 meters, nothing much) and got onto the island. The view was… brilliant! I’m running out of adjectives already.

Mindblowing! Awesome! Everything rolled into one. I highly recommend you go look at this to get an idea of what the place looked like.

The beach was such that the five of us(Whacko, fallen, hisP, giblet and me) could wade out to sea for about 50 meters. It was like a giant natural wave pool or something. Here again fallen went off into the distance to risk his life to impress the twins. After much waving and shouts of “It’s fun! It’s not deep! lol lol” he came back. Whacko as usual went crazy with the camera but unfortunately for him nature was against him that day and most of his pictures turned out all weird. HisP stayed away from the camera claiming that it once bit him. We just think he wants to be in all the pictures.

We got to Mirissa by bus, at around 9:30am. The Matara bus we took broke down past Galle because hisP, fallen and whacko’s sleeping had caused them to drool onto the floor, after which the drool went into the differential of the bus and it refused to move unless they got off.

Also, watch out. There’s a slight danger, what with all the cool sights and all, of THIS happening –

Scattered sightings of this kind of thing have been reported. Watch out, or you'll be next.

I have a feeling I’ve left something out of this post, so comment away with the missing bits. Will add later.

P.S. – Everyone who missed out – We’re sorry you just died a little seeing those pictures.

you do realize this post is completely backwards, chronologically i.e.
doesn’t really make it any cooler, or hardcore
the only comment-able thing on it is the pic
so I will comment on that:

Ouch! I think I hurt myself falling out of my chair LAUGHING!!! ROFL! And then some!
Haha! That pic is hilarious! 😆

Been to Mirisa so I know what it’s like so trust me when I say it’s got nothing on the east coast beaches- Nilavali, Arugam bay or Pasikuda! I prefer Pasikuda to the others though. Nilavali and Arugam bay are know tourist beaches so you won’t find completely secluded spots unlike at Pasikuda… And that beach is clear BLUE water all the way to the horizon! It’s like you’re at the Maldives!
